Camu Camu (Myrciaria dubia) is fairly new to the global market, and while you probably wont find the raw fruit at your local grocer, the powder is becoming more available worldwide. This fruit grows on low lying shrubs, mostly in flooded areas of the Amazon forest in Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. The camu camu shrub is closely related to the rumberry, also known as a guavaberry. Due to its high Vitamin C content, the fruit has an excessively sour taste, which is why it is usually consumed as a powder mixed in smoothies and juices.
